Valerie came from a Missouri puppy mill. On March 16 this year, she left that life behind her along with Ava, Allie and Frannie. Valerie has now made her way all the way from that awful situation to a foster home in Connecticut where she has learned a lot about what it means to be a happy go lucky girl!
Valerie wants to be loved and wants lots of attention. She will be happiest with another small dog who she can play with. She is 3.5 years old and she weighs about 15 lbs. She still has some of the mill behavior – she shrinks to the floor or skips away when you go to pick her up – but if you sit down and put your hand out to her she quickly comes to be patted and scratched – and when you stop scratching she nudges you with her foot to ask for more loving. She loves to cuddle close to you on the couch.
This little girl is learning so quickly to love her new life – but she will need patience. She wants so much to trust and love you!
Valerie is doing great on housebreaking. She needs work to learn to walk on a leash. She is spayed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Valerie is heart worm negative and is taking heart worm preventative.
Valerie is being fostered in Norwalk, CT.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Vicki at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
