  Meet Poncho!

We are pleased to welcome our irrepressibly lovable 11 yr. old - 12.5 lb. Poncho to our Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Program. Currently he is available for virtual adoption only, however we are hopeful as we are work with his veterinarian to bring his Diabetes under control, he will soon be well enough to be placed in our adoption program. For now, Poncho is being lovingly fostered in a private home in the Chicago area.

In the meantime, if you can find it in your heart to help us recover veterinary expenses which have run over $5000 and mounting, you will not only be helping us care for Poncho, but also free up funds to cover veterinary expenses for other Griffs in our care and those coming into rescue.

If you would like to become a virtual adoption family for Poncho or make tax deductible donations, easy to follow instructions can be found at this link http://www.brusselsgriffonrescue.org/help.html. Any amount large or small will go a long way in helping us help Poncho and so many others in dire need of veterinary care.

Poncho came to us in very critical condition. He was rushed to a specialty ER veterinary hospital immediately after he was relinquished to us. His blood sugar levels were dangerously high, and was very dehydrated, along with other medical issues. He spent 2 days and 2 nights in the level 4 critical care ICU, and is currently under on going outpatient care in an attempt to control his Diabetes. He has also lost his vision since coming into rescue, as a direct result of long term undiagnosed/treated Diabetes.

Despite it all, Poncho is a total delight and his loss of vision has in no way reduced his zest for life! This little guy is a very sweet happy little fellow who has grown very attached to his foster family, and after being an only dog in his previous home, he has discovered the comfort of hanging out with the other dogs in his foster home, exploring the back yard, napping in comfy dog beds with his buddies, and sleeping in the big bed at night with his foster family.
