  Meet Peeta!
(#3044)

Peeta is an adorable and very sweet smooth Griffon who is approximately 15lbs and just over a year old. She is very affectionate and energetic and loves people! She loves her foster brother and sister and is Velcro to humans. She was left outside most of her life in the heat and the cold and is really enjoying being an inside dog. Peeta is working on being house trained and is having a lot of success so far. She has had a few accidents but learns quickly and responds very positively to verbal praise and treats.

She loves to eat and is learning to play with toys and eat chew bones. She especially loves her ears being rubbed now that they are no longer infested with ticks. She really enjoys walks and although she was not leash trained she does not pull and has caught on very quickly on how to walk enjoyably. She is crate trained but will do better being left in an xpen where she can curl up in her bed. She did not have a bed before and likes to find a cozy place to snuggle up.

Peeta needs to be in a home where she gets lots of love and attention. She has some time to make up since she was only fed once a day and that was the only time that she had any human interaction. She gets very excited when you come home and also to eat and will need to be with someone who will appreciate being number one in her life. She definitely wants to please and is very obedient and hardly barks. Being outside has helped her to tune out noises but she is still adjusting to indoor noises like the vacuum cleaner and blender. Peeta is very smart and takes to anyone who pays to her attention male or female.

Her one bad habit is jumping up on people, which we are working on and seeing improvement on. Her nails are longer than usual too since her former owner did not clip her claws and the quick has grown out. She is a little bit cautious of children but not afraid of them which we think is because she has not been exposed to them.

Peeta is very grateful of her new life and lets us know all the time. She wants to love you back twice as much as you love her. She is a great dog that will quickly adjust to her new environment and will be extremely appreciative of love and attention and just getting to be inside.

When adopted Peeta will be spayed, fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, heart-worm negative and on preventative.

Peeta is located in the Austin TX area.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
