  Meet Orlando & Lance!
(#3221 & #3222)

Orlando an 8-month-old, black-and-tan rough, and his best friend Lance is a 10-month-old red rough. These two love to hang out together or wrestle until they wear themselves out and have to find a bed to snuggle in while they recharge for the next round.

There is no way you would want to break up this friendship. They share toys and treats and will ‘share’ the food remaining in the bowl of the slower-eater if you don’t watch out. They are both very smart; they learned to ‘sit’ on command (for a treat) in just a few minutes. They are learning to walk on leash for the first times in their lives, and they especially enjoy meeting new people along the way. They already travel well, crated, in the car.

They are learning to ring a door-hanger bell to let their foster-parents know when they need to go outside to do their business. They have only had a few accidents in the house, and they have been great when they are taken out on a schedule. (It is a good idea, however to watch them to make sure they do their business while they are out and not spend all their time playing.)

They do love to play. They also love toys, bully sticks, baby carrots, bell peppers, cheese, and other treats -- and snuggling with each other or humans.

While they have proved to be extremely adaptable, Orlando and Lance were breeder-surrenders, so home-life is still a bit new to them. Until you are comfortable that they are comfortable in your house and with your rules, they need to be watched over to make sure they don't get themselves into trouble.

They are very curious, and they are lightning-fast, so you have to be extra careful if you don’t want them to go out when you open a door. Like the great running back Gale Sayers, all either of these little guys needs is ‘six inches of daylight and he is gone’.

Orlando and Lance get along well with other dogs, and they are always excited to meet people. Based on limited observation, we believe that they could be fine with older children. They sleep together in their crate at night, but they would undoubtedly love an invitation to join you in the big bed.

These sweet, little gentlemen are vetted and ready to meet their new family. It promises to be a win-win if you choose each other.

Orlando and Lance are being fostered in the Houston, Texas area.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
