Meet Nishi & Oliver!
(#3557 & #3558)
Have you thought about adopting a rescue Griff but perhaps a bit hesitant wondering if a rescue might be "damaged" in some way so would not fit in with your family? Fostering just might be the perfect solution! While a National Brussels Griffon Rescue, Inc. rescue Griff is in foster care we pay for all veterinary expenses and grooming. All the foster family is required to provide is a safe clean environment, a high quality diet, transportation to the vet and groomer, and of course lots of love.
If it turns out the foster Griff is the perfect fit for your family, our foster parents are given first dibs at adopting. If the dog is not the right fit, our foster families know it is only a temporary situation until NBGR finds the perfect adoptive family or we can transfer the foster Griff to another foster home.
In Nishi & Oliver's case, their foster family was able to determine very quickly that these to cuties were the perfect match for them. 2 1/2 months later the decision was made to formally adopt them, and they couldn't be happier! We have no doubt Nishi & Oliver are certain they hit the jack pot too!
Nishi came to us as a stray with a horrendous UTI and bladder stones requiring immediate surgical removal. NBGR paid for all veterinary care and follow up checks with the vet. We believe she is a Griff-Shih Tzu mix with natural ears and tail, weighs just 9 lbs and we think about 10 years old, yet one would never guess her to be a senior. This little girl is full of herself, loves a high activity household, exploring her fenced back yard, and wrapping her daddy's heart around her little paw. Everyone who has met this little pip squeak has fallen madly in love with her.
Oliver came to us not long after Nishi. He was relinquished to NBGR by his elderly owner who was no longer able to care for him. This 13 year old - 12 lb irresistibly handsome boy has the cutest perky ears and big brown eyes that melt your heart. This little guy has absolutely no bad habits, and is the happiest little guy imaginable. Like Nishi, one would never suspect he is a senior boy.
These two didn't know it the day they walked into their foster mom & dad's home, but within a very short time it was very evident they would never again be left homeless yearning for a family of their very own.
If you think fostering a rescued Griff might be a consideration for you, please fill out our foster home application which can be found on the upper left side this page. Occasionally information is dropped when filling out the application via a cell phone, so it is suggested that it be filled out using a computer. Please make sure all questions are answered in detail as well as providing the name and contact information for your veterinarian and 2 personal references.
We never know when or where a Griff in need of foster care will show up, but when they do, the need for foster placement is immediate. Please consider helping NBGR help Griffs in need. We promise, you will not regret it!
Our rescued Griffs depend on us to make the right choices for them. We are in essence, the voice for each of our adoptable Griffs. Because our Griffs come to us through no fault of their own after being lost, abandoned, relinquished, neglected or abused or without ever knowing a kind touch, we take our obligation to each and every one of them very seriously when we place them in new forever homes to assure they never again face the harsh realities of life without love, and instead live out their lives in a loving forever home able to provide for their particular needs and comfort.
We hope you will consider joining our team!
