  Meet Lulu!

March 3, 2020 Update:

Lulu's multiple health issues progressed to the point where she could no longer be kept comfortable. Sadly her foster family had to let her go yesterday. They held her lovingly in their arms as she crossed the bridge. How lucky she was to have had her Happy Ending with them.

National Brussels Griffon Rescue, Inc.'s irrepressible 14 year old Lulu entered our Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Virtual Adoption Program in March after her elderly owner passed away. She is partially blind and seriously ill with uncontrolled diabetes.

Her very dedicated foster parents (Brian & Tracey Bagley) are working very closely with Lulu's veterinarian to stabilize her blood glucose levels, keeping her on a strict diabetic diet, checking her blood glucose at least 3 times per day at home along with weekly home blood glucose curves, then consulting with the vet weekly to determine the next course of action.

Right now Lulu is a very sick little girl and her prognosis is guarded, but one would never know it by watching her cute video as she excitedly barks and dances in anticipation of meal time.

Similar to Lulu's case, NBGR has a number of other senior or special care Griffs who have settled into their foster homes long term. For various reasons, it is very doubtful that the right adoptive family will be found for them, or a change in environment would affect these Griffs negatively.

Thankfully, we have many foster families like the Bagley's who willing to care for these Griffs as their "Forever Foster" while NBGR continues to pay their medical expenses. We are so very appreciative to our foster families who have agreed to care for these little Griffs in need for the remainder of their lives.

However we cannot do this without the generosity of our virtual adoptive families who help provide financial assistance for their care. If you would like to become a virtual adoptive family, you can designate a particular Griff you would like to help or you can make a general one time or on going donation to our Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Program.

If you prefer you can send a check designating the Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Program to:

National Brussels Griffon Rescue, Inc.

A list of a few of our dogs in our Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Program can be found with the blue logo next to their name on our website and our Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Facebook page.

All Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care virtual adoption and general donations will be deposited into the General Fund, and earmarked for the Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Program. These funds will be used first to offset the expenses of the dogs in this program.

We do not have any paid employees. Our organization is staffed strictly by unpaid volunteers. All donations go directly to the care of the Griffs in our program.

National Brussels Griffon Rescue, Inc. is a 501C3 approved Non-Profit. Our financial records are open to anyone who asks. Our Paws of Winter Senior & Special Care Program is a part of the National Brussels Griffon Rescue, Inc.

Any donation large or small is greatly appreciated! We thank you and if they could, the Griffs in need in our care would thank you too from the bottom of their hearts!

Lulu is located in Arkansas.
