  Meet Gizmo!

Gizmo came to NBGR when his former owners could no longer care for him.

Gizmo is approximately 4 years old and weighs about 10 pounds.

This little cutie is super sweet once he warms up to you. It could take some time, so someone who is patient and has the time to work with him is who he needs most. Gizmo would do best in a home where someone is around most of the time, with no small children.

Although this little precious heart is shy, he does love to give kisses and get his bottom scratched a lot once he warms up to you. He will even back up to you so you can take care of this wonderful need for him! He also loves his tummy to be scratched. He doesnít like his head scratched though and will shy away if you try to rub his head, so approaching him from underneath his head or from the side is best.

Gizmo has tried to play with his foster brothers and sisters in his current foster home, but they arenít that interested so his foster mom takes him out in the backyard and they play games of chase.

Gizmo does really well in a crate and he will sleep in one all night, but he does prefer the big bed if he is allowed to. Also he is doing really well with potty training and took to using a doggy door really fast. Regularly timed trips outdoors if you donít have a doggy door should be enough to keep him and your floors happy and clean. He might have a few accidents at first but once he gets on a schedule he should do just fine.

Gizmo hasnít taken to walking on a leash that well, but his foster mom is working on that. He is still fearful of the outside commotion. He will walk a little, but tends to stay behind. He stops frequently and needs reassurance and a little tug to get him going again. With time and practice we are sure he will learn to enjoy his walks.

He is very shy of new people, but he is improving over time. He might try to retreat under a chair or table. But with some reassurance and maybe a little tug on his lead or collar and he will come out. He is getting better about taking treats from peopleís hands. We think he will probably always be a bit shy and fearful around strangers although he has never shown any aggressive tendencies. He loves to run outside with the other dogs when there is something to bark at, or bark at the front window with them, so he is definitely an outgoing little boy. It is just going to take some time, but Gizmo is well worth the time and effort. Do you have the time to bring out the best in this precious little soul?

Gizmo is up to date on vaccinations, neutered, heartworm negative and on prevention.

Gizmo is being fostered in the San Antonio, Texas area.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at conniel@andell.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
