Freddie is a beautiful, gentle, soft coat, deep red boy about 5 years old. He didn’t get off to a great start in life and because of that, he has very few teeth on the one side. He needs soft food or kibble that has been soaked overnight. Other than that, he is a happy but shy guy. He really doesn’t need much and is happiest on the couch or in the yard. Occasionally he comes for pets but he will need a patient owner to bring him out of his shell. Overall, he is pretty quiet. Freddie ignores cats and gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters. Puppy mill dogs need to always be considered a severe escape risk – so he requires a very securely fenced yard in his new home. The picture with two dogs is Barley and Freddie – who came from the same rescue group.
Freddie has been working on his housebreaking manners – he will need to be taken out regularly – every few hours – to get him really housebroken. At this point if he is not taken out every few hours he is just as happy to pee in the house! He will also need leash training in his new home.
Freddie is neutered and he is up-to-date on vaccines. He is heart worm negative and he takes preventative. He is microchipped and he has recently had his teeth cleaned.
Freddie is being fostered in Pittsburgh, PA.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Vicki at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
