Dion is one lucky boy! Pulled from a high-kill shelter in a remote part of New Mexico and transported to Dallas -- thanks to two of our wonderful volunteers -- Dion has a second chance at life.
Very happy and full of puppy energy, Dion loves to play with other dogs and any toy he can get his paws on. He also adores two-legged friends and never meets a stranger. When Dion first arrived at his foster home he tried to dig out several times but once he was settled he has not tried to escape. His new family will need to watch him closely when he’s in the backyard and always keep him safe in a contained area.
Dion is about a year old and weighs 14 lb. He is doing well with house-, crate-, and leash-training but like all newcomers needs to be watched so he doesn’t have accidents. Dion won over his foster mom’s heart in seconds flat. She especially enjoys his love affair with his toys and the fact that he wakes her up in the mornings by nibbling on her toes through the covers. We know that with his winning personality, he will do the same with anyone he meets.
Dion is a healthy boy, but does have food allergies – he needs to be kept on a diet free of corn, wheat, soy and chicken. When he first arrived he test low positive for Ehrlichiosis (tick fever) which he was treated for and now tests negative.
Dion is heartworm negative and on preventative, vaccinated, micro-chipped, neutered and ready to get on to the next chapter of his life.
If you have the energy to play, a watchful eye, and a little extra room on your lap, Dion could be snuggling up to you in no time flat.
Here is a cute video of Dion
PS – Dion’s coat was in such bad condition when they picked him up it had to be cut off – good news is it will grow back beautiful!
Dion is located in Dallas, TX.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie Lawrence at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
