  Meet CoCo!

Coco was surrendered by his owner to an animal shelter and stayed there for a while before NBGR was alerted to his situation. It was almost too late – a wonderful NBGR volunteer picked him up from the shelter just hours before he was to be euthanized.

Coco is a very sweet and loving boy. He has a happy-go-lucky attitude and loves to be with his people. He gets along well with other dogs, and he loves cats.  He gives kisses and will climb in your lap to make sure you get your share of them.  Coco loves to be included in the family, and wants to be a cozy fixture at the end of the bed.

CoCo is around 8-years-old and weighs 17 lbs. He is a red rough boy. Don’t let his age fool you, though – Coco is an active boy. He loves to play with toys and go for walks. He will chase after a toy, then play keep away with his person and the other dogs.

Coco is great on his leash.  He doesn't pull a bit and is a pleasure to walk. He also obeys simple commands such as "sit" and "lay down," and "off." He sits and waits patiently for his food, but doesn’t like it when his doggy housemates approach his bowl before he is finished eating.

He is doing well with house-training but has had a few accidents. He would probably do best with a doggy door, because he isn’t always great about alerting when he needs to go out. At his first foster home, he mastered going in and out of the doggy door in no time at all and would let himself out when he needed to go to the bathroom or just wanted to be outside. Although he is doing well, he might slip a bit when he goes to his new home, but this is to be expected in a new environment, until he learns the ropes.

Coco really enjoys taking naps in the sun and playing with his foster brother and sister.

He has a very easy going and flexible personality.  He might make a good therapy dog for someone who wants to work with him on that.  Coco is not a big barker though he will alert you if someone is at the door or when another dog walks by the backyard fence.

CoCo is neutered and heartworm negative. He is up to date on his vaccinations, and is microchipped.

CoCo is being fostered in the Los Angeles, CA area.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Crystal at cnratliff@gmail.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
