Meet Charlie & Molly!
(#3379 & #3380)
Charlie & Molly are a ridiculously cute duo who happily served their patriotic duty as loving companions to a heroic World War II veteran and a military nurse of the Korean and Vietnam wars who rose the the rank of Brigadier General. Sadly, the advancement of age and physical debilitation finally prevented this retired military couple from caring for Charlie & Molly as they deserved, leading them to their final brave and very bittersweet decision of allowing this sweet pair to find a new happy ending with a family who will love and tenderly care for them for the rest of their days.
Their previous owner's final words as we walked out the door with Charlie & Molly were "Thank you! Now that we know you will assure Charlie & Molly will stay together, and be well taken care of in their new home, we can go in peace when that day comes knowing they are happy and loved!"
Could you be that family who honors the final wishes of 2 military veterans of war, those Tom Brokaw refers to as "The Greatest Generation" who were born and raised during the economic depravity of the Great Depression, bravely served our country in time of war, selflessly cared for the wounded and dying, and went on to build the greatest country the world has ever known?
Charlie can only be described as a sweet "Momma's boy". He follows his foster mom's every move, always with a happy smile on his face, is the first to eagerly greet her at the door, and insists on snuggling with her at every opportunity, including in the big bed at night. He loves his daily walks, and is perfectly leash trained!
Molly is a playful, happy, little girl, who engages in play with any dog who will reciprocate! She likes men and women, but definitely has a preference for her foster dad, and quickly became a "Daddy's Girl" in her foster home. She walks well on lead when she is in the mood (lol), but after all, she is a princess so what more would one expect?
Charlie is a strikingly handsome Brussels Griffon-Shih Tzu Mix, approximately 8-9 yrs. old, and currently on a "Doggy Biggest Loser" regimen to get down to a healthy weight of 15 lbs. He is doing exceptionally well with a strict diet and daily exercise routine, resulting in an average weight loss of 1 lb. per week. We are confident he will soon reach his weight loss goal!
Molly is an adorable, petite black & white Shih Tzu approximately 8-9 yrs. old, and weighs 11.5 lbs. This little princess is a tiny girl, who could lose another pound or two to regain her perfect girlish figure, so is also on a diligent weight loss program. As is common with many dogs, Molly has dry eye so will require eye drops several times per day for the rest of her life, but this is very inexpensive, and Molly is very patient making this an easy to do daily routine.
Charlie & Molly are looking for a female only home as Charlie can be nippy with men. Perhaps he deeply misses the man in his previous home so will not bond with other men, or he had a very bad experience somewhere along the way, but to assure everyone's happiness, only a female household will be considered for this awesome little duo!
They are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations, heart worm negative, on heart worm preventative, and micro chipped.
They are being lovingly fostered in a private home near Omaha, Nebraska.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Jan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
