  Meet Bean Sprout!
(#2802)

Bean Sprout is a 6 year old who was surrendered by her breeder. When she came to her foster home, she had very little socialization and was leery of humans. Fast forward a few months, and we can see the difference that love and patience can play in the lives of these little ones.

Sprout is learning to trust, and though she is not overly social, she is beginning to attempt to climb into a chair or onto the sofa with her foster parents. She is taking an interest in whatever they are doing from room to room, and she’s also starting to feel comfortable enough to take treats from their hands.

Sprout gets along well with other dogs and couldn’t care less about cats. She can be a ball of energy and tries to entice the other dogs to play – probably something she was never able to do in her previous life. One of Sprout’s favorite things is lounging around or sun-bathing in the yard.

She sleeps quietly in her crate and is good walking on a leash. Sprout is working on house training; she does well when on a schedule and let out frequently. Her new family will need to continue to help her when she starts her new life. She is low-key, docile, and minds well. Sadly, at some point before she came into our program, Sprout had an injury to her right front leg that causes her to limp. Some days the limp is more pronounced than others depending on how tired she is, but she has no trouble getting around. She also has dry eyes that require drops of natural tears several times a day to keep her eyes moist and comfortable.

Sprout would benefit from obedience classes to help build her confidence and bond with her new family.

A wish from Sprout’s foster mom: “Sprout deserves to have a second chance at life. At this time she will require some patience and work. It is obvious when we get her to come to us that she WANTS to be loved on and petted. She’s just cautious.”

Can you open your heart and home to give this little girl the life she’s missed out on? With a continued love and patience, we bet you will see Sprout blossom.

Update: I had the opportunity to meet Bean Sprout during the Austin Griffy Gathering and can tell you this little girl is a doll. She has come a long way from the day we got her from the bad situation she had been living in for so many years. Sprout was great with all the other Griffs; in fact, most had a crush on her and she was calm with so many people milling around. This precious girl will make a great companion for some lucky family. She needs her daily eye drops but she is not demanding she just needs someone to love her and spoil her to make up for all the bad years.

Here is a cute video of Sprout and her friend, Col. George Sanders.

Sprout is located in Lone Oak, TX.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Connie at conniel@andell.com.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
