  Meet Barley!
(#3575)

Barley is a funny little 4-5 year old guy. Weighing in at only 8 pounds, he has the personality of a much bigger dog. He loves his toys, often carrying them around the back yard. He is becoming more adventurous in exploring his back yard, sometimes even by himself. Although Barley has come a very long way since being in his foster home, he will need a very securely fenced in yard as he is quick and still has some trust issues. Puppy mill dogs need to always be considered a severe escape risk. Once comfortable, he loves to snuggle. He will alert when there is an intruder so he’s a great little watch dog. Barley ignores cats and gets along well with his foster brothers and sisters. The picture with two dogs is Barley and Freddie – who came from the same rescue group.

Barley has been working on his housebreaking manners – he will need to be taken out regularly – every few hours – to get him really housebroken. At this point if he is not taken out every few hours he is just as happy to pee in the house! He will also need leash training in his new home.

Barley is neutered and he is up-to-date on vaccines. He is heart worm negative and he takes preventative. He is microchipped and he has recently had his teeth cleaned.

Barley is being fostered in Pittsburgh, PA.

If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Vicki at vboneill@optonline.net.

Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
