Andy is a real hoot! If you like to laugh, play, and lead an active life style, this fun, very high energy little guy just might be what your heart has been yearning for! Everybody he meets loves him, he loves them in return, loves playing with other small dogs, playing fetch with soft plush squeaky toys, is good with older respectful children, and loves to cuddle with his family in the big bed at night!
Andy simply is not happy without lots of attention, so he is looking for a family where someone is home most of the time or can take him to work with them, along with 1 or 2 other small dogs who love to play.
ANDY CANNOT BE PLACED IN A HOME WITH LARGE DOGS OR CATS, AND REQUIRES A YARD WITH A SECURE 6 FOOT PRIVACY FENCE. Andy does not like large dogs or cats. The result of placing him in a home with large dogs or cats would be total chaos. He is also a climber and little escape artist, so definitely needs a yard with a 6 foot privacy fence where he can run, play and burn off excess energy safely. Other than his dislike for larger dogs, cats, and the need for a 6 foot privacy fence, Andy is perfect in every way, and is sure to bring some very lucky family many years of happiness, unfaltering devotion, and most of all a life time of love!
As you can see in Andy's video, he is a very active enthusiastic little guy who loves to have fun, with the added bonus of braving the frigid outdoors when it's time to go potty! Andy loves to ride in the car and has terrific road trip manners! He has very quickly learned to ALWAYS climb in the backseat, and wait for his halter to be securely hooked to the seat belt, as he eagerly waits for the next adventure to begin!
Andy is about 15 lbs., estimated to be between 8-9 yrs. old, however the vet thinks he is much younger, because his teeth are pearly white with no tarter or wear, and he is in excellent physical condition.
Andy is neutered, UTD on vaccinations, heart worm negative, on heart worm preventative and micro chipped.
Andy is being lovingly fostered in a private home in the Kansas City metro area.
12-30-2014 Up Date:
Andy recently had emergency surgery to remove bladder stones, one which completely blocked his uretha, threatening to shut his kidneys down. He is now fully recovered and back to his usual happy rambunctious self, however he will require a special diet ($36.00 for a 7.7 lb. bag) for the remainder of his life, and return to the vet every 4 months for a urine test and xray to determine if new stones are forming. The vet has advised us it is likely new stones will form through out his life time, and additional surgeries may be needed.
If you are interested in adoption please fill out our Adoption Application. If you would like more information, please contact Jan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Keep in mind that we prefer to place dogs within driving distance of where they are being fostered. If someone from outside the local area is approved for adoption, they must be willing to fly in to get the dog and that can only happen if the dog is stable enough to travel in the cabin with the passenger.
